Graduated in Pharmacy by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) (1996) and PhD in Pharmacy by the same University (2000), speciality Pharmacology

Current Research or area of work:

Our research lines focus on elucidating the role of different inflammatory mediators including lipid mediators such as prostanoids and oxidative stress in the vascular structural, functional and mechanical alterations associated to different cardiovascular pathologies including hypertension, obesity or ageing among others. Our group also collaborates with clinical researchers and other research groups within the Spanish Cardiovascular Network that includes 40 research groups working in different aspects of cardiovascular biology.

Leadership Roles:

Dr Briones co-leads a group of pre and postdoctoral researchers focused on the role of inflammatory mechanisms as underlying causes of vascular damage in different cardiovascular diseases.

Reason for joining ECCR:

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Communication and cooperation among researchers is the only effective way to advance in the knowledge of the causes and in the development of new therapeutic tools to fight these diseases. ECCR has been always commitment to encourage this cooperation and contribute to the training of future cardiovascular researchers.
