You are welcome to contact us at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:rhian.touyz@glasgow.ac.uk\">rhian.touyz@glasgow.ac.uk<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:marisolf@ucm.es\">marisolf@ucm.es<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:eccr@conferencecollective.co.uk\">eccr@conferencecollective.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>ECCR VIRTUAL CONFERENCE<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>It is our pleasure to invite you to the first ECCR 2020 virtual conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Date<\/strong>:\u00a0Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aims<\/strong><br \/>\nThe 23rd\u00a0meeting of the ECCR will focus on recent advances in vascular damage and cardiometabolic disease with a hot topic session on the relationship and impact of COVID-19 on cardiovascular and metabolic disease.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights of the 23rd\u00a0Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The programme includes state-of-the art lectures by keynote speakers, oral communications and poster sessions with dedicated time for trainees and new investigators.<\/li>\n<li>Special awards will be given to trainees and fellows and to the winner of The Art in Science Competition.<\/li>\n<li>There will be also a social activity with networking possibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Programme outline<\/strong><br \/>\nAn exciting and comprehensive programme that covers major topics in the field including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mechanisms of vascular damage<\/li>\n<li>Endocrine mechanisms in cardiometabolic disease<\/li>\n<li>Covid-19 and cardiometabolic disease<\/li>\n<li>Early Career Researcher (ECR) sessions<\/li>\n<li>New technologies, industry, and career opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Call for abstracts<\/strong><br \/>\nAbstracts are now open for submission, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mvls.gla.ac.uk\/Abstracts\/eccr19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">click here to submit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Art in Science\u00a0Competition:\u00a0Find the beauty of science through art!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All participants in the ECCR 23rd\u00a0virtual meeting are encouraged to showcase the artistic side of science by submitting to\u00a0The Art in Science Competition!<br \/>\nImages will be displayed on the ECCR webpage, all participants will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite image and the winners will be announced at the closing ceremony.<br \/>\nSubmission information to follow shortly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Library of topical publications<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease have a look at our library of topical publications on our website (<a href=\"https:\/\/eccr.wpengine.com\/\">https:\/\/eccr.wpengine.com\/<\/a>). We are keen to continue populating this, so if you would like to highlight a paper of interest, please send it to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:eccr@conferencecollective.co.uk\">eccr@conferencecollective.co.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Careers Researchers in the ECCR (\u2018ECR \u2013 ECCR\u2019)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ECR-ECCR is a network within the ECCR that brings together a multidisciplinary and international group of early career researchers (ECR), the incentive is to provide support, collegiality, collaboration and mentorship for every ECR to grow in their professional career.<br \/>\nWe consider ECR as an undergraduate or postgraduate student or an early career researcher in a postdoctoral position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aims of the ECR-ECCR network:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support and information to progress in chosen career paths.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate communication about ECCR activities.<\/li>\n<li>Offer career support and guidance through a mentorship scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate information about research and career opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Work together with the ECCR Executive group to promote the name of the society and to attract more young affiliates from all areas of cardiovascular research.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the planning of the annual scientific meeting to ensure that ECR workshops, seminars, discussion groups are included in the programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We will advocate to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase the visibility of the young scientists in the scientific society.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the ECCR in research, academic and pharma environments.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with fundraising to support research and travel opportunities for ECRs.<\/li>\n<li>Promote equality among all scientists to ensure similar opportunities for all.<br \/>\nEncourage ECRs to leadership roles within the ECCR.<\/li>\n<li>Use social media and other forms of communication to keep connected.<\/li>\n<li>Help the ECCR Executive keep propagate and update the website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ECR-ECCR committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chair: Francisco Rios<\/strong><br \/>\nUniversity affiliation: University of Glasgow<br \/>\nResearch interest: inflammation, magnesium transporters, hypertension, cardiovascular fibrosis.<br \/>\nCareer stage (PhD, Post-doctoral fellow, lecturer etc): Research Fellow<\/p>\n<p><strong>Co-Chair: Marta Gil-Ortega<\/strong><br \/>\nUniversity affiliation: CEU San Pablo University.
